State of Hope promotes human-centered program design in our grant program. This article from the Stanford Social Review discusses the importance of placing participants at the center of managing and leading non-profits. The article also provides example of how participant-central non profit management might look.

  • How is your organization promoting human-centered design?
  • Are there challenges in shifting from the "for clients" to "with clients" mindset?

We are developing a Recovery Community Organization, 501c3 that will be completely staffed by peers in long-term recovery.  Recovery Allies are being considered for the inaugural Board of Directors to help the non-profit get off the ground but long-term the majority of Board members will also be peers in long-term recovery.  We already employ peers in long-term recovery and have seen how valuable they are in motivating others to get into treatment, so we have high hopes for this non-profit to change the active addiction landscape in Paulding County.
