The purpose of the Chronic Disease Prevention & Control Symposium is to unite stakeholders and collaborators in a concerted effort to address the growing burden of chronic diseases statewide. By bringing together experts, researchers, public health allies, healthcare professionals, and community leaders, this conference aims to:

  • Foster collaboration by providing a platform for diverse stakeholders to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices in chronic disease prevention, encouraging partnership-building among participants.
  • Enhance awareness about the prevalence, impact, and social determinants of chronic diseases, including but not limited to cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, and asthma.
  • Highlight the link between adverse childhood experiences and chronic diseases.
  • Promote evidence-based strategies by highlighting approaches, interventions, and policies proven effective in preventing and controlling chronic diseases, with a focus on primary prevention, early detection, and lifestyle modification.
  • Empower communities with the knowledge, resources, and tools necessary to promote health equity, reduce health disparities, and create environments conducive to healthy living.
  • Encourage innovation and healthcare delivery to address emerging challenges and opportunities in chronic disease prevention and control.
  • Inspire participants to act within their respective spheres of influence, whether through individual behavior change or organizational initiatives to contribute to the collective effort in combating chronic diseases.

By convening stakeholders from various sectors and backgrounds, the Chronic Disease Prevention & Control Symposium aims to catalyze collective action, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and ultimately, contribute to the reduction of the statewide burden of chronic diseases and the improvement of population health outcomes.
